These adapter plates assist with the installation of Smart light switches (which may be available in US or EU dimensions instead of the standard “2 x 4″ dimensions as used in South Africa). The US size of most smart switches (which is the closest to the SA 2″ x 4″ switches), are still approximately 2mm smaller (on all 4 sides) than the standard SA 2″ x 4”. The result is that there are often paint or plaster marks visible after replacing traditional switches. An additional advantage is that the plates support and provide some rigidity to the switches and prevent the switch’s base from bending / warping, when screws are tightened during installation. This can sometimes cause the switch’s base to separate slightly from the glass “touch” panel, which may affect the touch sensitivity.
Adaptor Plates are laser cut from 3mm Plexiglass and guide holes are cut according to standard smart switches to assist with easy installation and adjustment.
Plates are covered in a protective film to protect against scratches when in transit.
